In case you don’t already know him, Lucas has been dancing since 3rd grade with The Pacific Northwest Ballet — one of the top ballet schools in the United States.
Now in 9th grade, Lucas is dancing at least five days a week! There is an amazing program called Dance Chance, where he met his first teacher and one of his current mentors.
At this stage in his development as a dancer, there is a lot of commitment involved. He spends his summers doing intense dance programs and all year during the school year being completely dedicated to learning his craft.
In 2016, he auditioned and earned a tuition scholarship for the Summer Intensive at Ballet Met in Columbus, Ohio. We raised enough to send him thanks to so many amazing people, unbelievably cool host parents (his ballet mentors Timothy Lynch and Alexandra Dickson!!) and our first GoFundMe campaign!
In 2017 he auditioned and earned another tuition scholarship for the Summer Intensive at Miami City Ballet. This time we had to raise a lot more…and we did it! He came back sharper and more focused on ballet. Such an amazing community and family of people we have in our lives!
2018 is the year Lucas has decided he’s REALLY serious. This time, he auditioned and was rewarded with a tuition scholarship for the Summer Intensive at the School of American Ballet in New York City! (#1 Ballet school in the USA!)
That means we’ve got another campaign going on GoFundMe: www.GoFundMe.com/danceNYlucas
We’re about halfway to making that goal. Thanks to even more amazing people, a super fun benefit event called Lucas Lift was held to help us raise money for the housing part of this trip!! Thank you everyone!!
